I am intensely curious and open-minded (I hope you’ve noticed by now). I spend several hours per week studying nutritional supplements and body-care items: I look into the scientific research, the traditional historical traditions, and especially, I look into each maker’s honesty and trustworthiness. 

I look at ownership 

— I view selling oneself to a much-hated multinational as a mark of valuing profits over people, which raises alarms, so then I dig deeper

— I view honest, do-gooder researchers and healers with appreciation, but I also expect them to do all their homework

I look for third-party verification 

— from trustworthy credentialing agencies (not just industry rubber stamps)

— independent laboratory testing of raw materials and finished products

And most of all, I look for results! I’ve seen thousands of people with thousands of different-but-related medical conditions. By now, I know what works well and what is likely to backfire.

I make my treatment recommendations carefully! Naturopathic endocrinology  is real medicine, even if it’s “merely” nutritional supplements instead of prescription drugs. 

An area of particular concern is dietary supplements, nutraceuticals (nutritional items used in place of pharmaceutical drugs) and skincare-haircare items. It’s a huge industry that is not regulated by the FDA nor any other official oversight entity. In other words, the entire supplements aisle — indeed, all the supplements hawked on the internet — is regulated by the honor system. There are indeed many truly honorably makers here. But there are also greedy, lazy, and outright lying entities as well. 

Your health is on the line here! Taking a counterfeit product can do serious harm.
